We offer two types of validator status alerts, one is what validators and chains are most familiar with where the status bot is assigned to feed into a project's discord and validators can link themselves to get pinged with any status updates for their validator. The other option is something validators may not be familiar with but the idea is rather than linking your validator in multiple discords, instead, you can assign a channel within your own discord for those alerts to filter into making alerts a lot easier for validators to track.
Remember:
Text surrounded by [ ] are required inputs for the command to work and text surrounded by < > are optional inputs.
/validator-status chain [chain]
Example: /validator-status chain stride
Admin Perms Required: This will set the channel to receive status updates for all validators on a specified chain. This option is more for Core teams.
/link [valoper_address] [mentions]
Example: /link cosmosvaloper1aewyh4gtvayx6v7w592jdfylawk4rsu9tfvfgm @Bosco | Silk Nodes
The link command is used to link your validator in project discord where all validator status update alerts have been set. You can add as many people to mention as you like but you must tag at least one member.
/validator-status validator [valoper_address] [mentions]
/validator-status validator cosmosvaloper1aewyh4gtvayx6v7w592jdfylawk4rsu9tfvfgm @Bosco | Silk Nodes
Admin Perms Required: This command allows you to set status updates to be fed to the channel the command was run in for your Validator only. You can use this to bring all your alerts into the same channel.
/missed
Once ran in the validator alerts channel, this command will show you a private message of all validators signing performance and said chain. Showing most missed blocks from top down.
/status <valoper_address>
Example: /status or /status jklvaloper1kg0ujvq079jr5p86tacnzzt687c2dljtg0ampq
Will show you information either about your own link validator or a validator you want to look up. This command will show you various different information about said validator including signing performance.
Below I will show a quick step by step guide on linking your validator for our alerts and how to use our new status command.
NOTE: On ICS chains it will be your cosmosvaloper
that is needed for the alerts.
First you want to run the /link
command and enter your validator's valoper address along with who you want to alert in the boxes that will pop up once you initiate the command.
Once that is done you're now linked to the valoper address you entered and will be notified accordingly. You can also check the missed blocks on the whole chain by running our /missed
command, this command is private so only shown to the person who ran the command to not clog up the alerts channel as it must be ran in the same channel as the alerts are updated.
Finally, if you want to check the status of your validator or someone else's you can run our new /status
command, this will provide you with different information about a validator including signing performance. If you want info about your own validator and are already linked, you only need to run /status
in the alerts channel or if you're not linked or want info about another validator then just add the optional valoper
option to the command.
